GOVERNMENTAL OVER REGULATION REARS ITS UGLY HEAD AGAIN AGAINST DOWNTOWN CONCORD
In 2008, a movement began to add an additional layer of bureaucratic and regulatory overkill to the downtown area of Concord. The movement would have made the historic society and residential area residents in the downtown area of Concord.

Right here in Concord, Steve Medlin saw numerous people struck down with polio. He well remembered the dread and panic caused by the polio epidemics of the 1950s. Steve said, “It is time for me to do something about it.”

In 2005, Extremist groups wanted to stop the new jail from being built and wanted it moved elsewhere. Steve Medlin served as led for a group of citizens determined to keep a new county jail, and ultimately all county government, in downtown Concord.

YOUNG LEADERS RAISE MONEY WITH THE WORLD’S SCARIEST HAUNTED HOUSE: THEIR GOAL --- TO CHANGE THE WORLD
For twenty years, young community leaders in the Concord Jaycees captured the imagination of the community at Halloween and supported many Cabarrus County charity projects.

HELEN KELLER ISSUES THE CHALLENGE , “BECOME THE KNIGHTS OF THE BLIND IN THE CRUSADE AGAINST DARKNESS”
Over six million people in the United State are blind or visually impaired. Helen Keller issued the challenge. We answered two ways. FIRST, eye banks to restore vision and, SECOND, research into blindness prevention and cure.

CATAWBA RIVER KEEPERS WANT TO STOP CONCORD FROM GETTING MORE WATER & CONCORD IS RUNNING OUT OF WATER!!!
In 2009, citizens of Concord had experienced a multi-year drought and the City water supply was drying up. Steve served as community activist and public speaker in favor of at State regulatory hearings. We had to get water from outside the community from the Catawba River basin and “a big ole fight broke out”.

The number one fear in the world is keeping the Concord community from continued growth and improvement. Steve Medlin acted on the desperate need he saw in the community to teach young people and business owners how to communicate to reach their full potential.

Many Cabarrus County taxpayers took a short sighted view toward schools that were underfunded and in crisis. Steve took the lead and spoke all over the county educating citizens and informing them as to the need to pass a school bond issue.
