The city was drying up. Steve spoke at several public forums hosted by the state of North Carolina to argue in favor of the transfer of water to Concord. In the end, water was allowed to flow. Steve Medlin was the leading advocate of getting much needed water into Concord.
Getting school bonds passed >>>
Steve was the leader for the speakers bureau which worked many months making scores of speeches to community groups leading up to the passage of school bonds at a time when our school system was in dire need of upgrade.
Steve was the lead spokesman over several months leading up to approval of the new jail being built downtown. He went up against an anti jail activist group that wished to move the county jail out of the downtown area, jeopardizing the economic viability of the downtown. Steve was the lead speaker in numerous public forums over several months leading up to approval of a new jail being built in the downtown.

Steve led the charge in defeating a clear example of government over regulation. Steve spoke for months to defeat the Historic Overlay Activist Group proposal that would have crippled the downtown business owners with an ordinance requiring residential area approval for exterior maintenance on commercial buildings. The historic overlay effort was scuttled once Steve’s presentation speaking efforts galvanized opposition to the overlay.
