SEPARATE COUNSEL

“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star, Kandi Burris and fiancé, Todd Tucker, almost called off their wedding over this prenuptial agreement.

This dispute almost ruined the finale of the spinoff show, “Kandi’s Wedding”.

Todd Tucker even stormed out of the wedding rehearsal over the prenuptial agreement he thought was unfair.

The couple finally signed their agreement and held their wedding in the late spring.

This series of events give an excellent lesson to be learned from the prenuptial bust up.

Had these people not employed separate attorneys, there probably would have been no wedding and no TV show.

In particular, both sides, each of the parties need their own lawyer.

Although the spouses share the same legal interest in many situations, negotiating prenuptial agreement is best done with separate counsel for each side.

It is almost impossible for one lawyer to be completely fair and neutral in dealing with both sides in the prenuptial negotiations.

Each party will probably have doubts as to whether they were treated fairly when there is only one lawyer representing them both if a dispute should arise later on.

In this instance, both Tucker and Burris had attorneys who were able to advocate for their client’s interest and ultimately the two lawyers brought the parties to an agreement that worked for both.

Let the cameras roll for their TV show.
