Let me caution you about one of the dangers of purchasing an existing business and the employees.
The business is for sale at a great price. It looks like a deal.
It is up and running and making good money.
There are an excellent manager and staff in place.
You pounce on the deal, pour your life savings into the business and arrive on Monday morning to find that your wonderful manager and all the staff have departed to work at their own business in competition with you a block away and …….they took all you customers with them.
Protect yourself from such a tragic and avoidable end to your budding business career.
In the contract to purchase the existing business, and in separate contracts with the manager, employees, key people that work for the business, obtain contracts to keep them from competing against you.
Just be aware that those contracts must be reasonable in terms of their duration and geographical area in which the employee is forbidden to compete against you.
There are 5 pillars necessary to keep your non-compete contract valid and enforceable.
I have discussed some of them in this video. Call me and we will discuss the rest of them.
I know how to keep the non-compete contract enforceable.
In nearly 40 years of law practice, I have handled supervised and completed hundreds and hundreds of effective business contracts.
My job is to take care of my clients.
Call me.
