FINDING ALL THE ASSETS

So, you have been named Executor or Administrator of a deceased person’s estate

This video concerns determining all the assets of the deceased person.

Many times, it is a challenge to discover all the assets

This is complicated work and very time consuming.

The deceased may not have been good with record keeping or records may have been lost over time or destroyed.

However, those assets MUST be found.

Estate settlement laws require you find those assets and those laws are unknown to most people.

You must do many things to find assets including searching income tax returns, intangibles tax returns, gift tax returns, searching at the Register of Deeds for deeds and mortgages in every county where the deceased lived. You must also review financial records for promissory notes, bank account statements, passbooks, certificates of deposit, stocks, bonds, insurance policies, titles to motor vehicles, boats, etc.

There are heirs watching to be sure all the deceased’s assets are found.
